Why choose the Hotel Zum Schiff?
Situated on the site of a Roman road, St. Georgen has always been a strategically important place. Carriages bearing goods and passengers to or from the nearby Rhine ports would stop over here. Back then the ‘Zum Schiff’ was a stagecoach inn and customs station with its own blacksmith’s workshop and a large farm building. For this reason, those making their way to or from the shipping ports would gratefully stop for sustenance.
